Ntvnews.id, Jakarta - The Jakarta Metro Police (Polda Metro Jaya) has formed a Preventive Strike Team. This was done to anticipate calls for demonstrations this August 2026, which are rampant in cyberspace or social media.

This effort is carried out as a precautionary measure to face potential disturbances to public security and order (kamtibmas).

According to police officials, namely the Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya, Grand Commissioner Budi Hermanto, the special team consists of a combination of several operational directorates within the Polda Metro Jaya environment.

"The Chief of Metro Jaya Police has confirmed the formation of a Preventive Strike Team consisting of operational directorates within Polda Metro Jaya," said Budi at the Polda Metro Jaya, Jakarta, Friday, July 31, 2026.

He stated that the formation of this team aims to conduct early detection, investigation, and initial mitigation if there are indications of certain groups attempting to trigger riots in the jurisdiction of Polda Metro Jaya and its buffer zones.

"So we have carried out early mitigation in case there are groups trying to create riots, making the situation uncomfortable and unsafe in the jurisdiction of Polda Metro Jaya, including buffer zones. Appropriate, firm, and measured actions will be taken," he said.

Regarding the condition of malls starting to install high fences due to suspected fears of a wave of August demonstrations, Budi emphasized that to date the police have not received an official notification letter of the related rally plans.

"Regarding the fences, in the current kamtibmas situation, Polda Metro Jaya has still not received any notification letter regarding the existing actions," he explained.

Even so, Polda Metro through the Cyber Investigation Directorate (Ditressiber) and the General Criminal Investigation Directorate (Ditreskrimum) continues to monitor the movement of narratives, potential cybercrime, and wild invitations circulating on social media.

"We will look at the pamphlets or invitations, whether it's just throwing flyers or if there will indeed be a wave of action. We will also coordinate from the analysis of intelligence estimates regarding the current situation," explained Budi.

In addition, to ensure the situation remains conducive, Polda Metro Jaya along with Kodam Jaya (Military Command) are also intensifying large-scale patrols in the Jakarta area to border areas such as Bekasi, Depok, and Tangerang. Budi appealed to the public not to panic because the security situation in Jakarta so far is still safe and under control.
